There are many reasons! The most important is that only a professional designer can provide the necessary logo files your business will need, especially scalable vector formats like those created in Adobe Illustrator. These are crucial for printing on various items, such as windows, vehicles, clothing, banners, and signage. Mobile apps can’t offer these file types.
File formats matter when you need logo products made. We provide formats like JPEG, PNG, PDF, AI, PSD, EPS, and SVG, and can advise on where each should be used since they all have different properties and purposes.
Another key factor is file resolution. For good print quality, logos need to be at least 300dpi (dots per inch), but free mobile apps often provide a lower resolution of 96dpi, which results in poor printing quality.
Hiring a designer saves you time and hassle when you need quick, personalised advice or specific changes to your logo. We save your files and can make amendments when needed. Plus, we offer transparent watermark versions, and logo variations that fit different needs, like a stacked composition for circular instances or linear composition for across website headers, for example.
You can, but there are some downsides. Free apps often produce low-resolution files that don’t work well for printing and may come with white backgrounds, limiting where/how you can use them. Plus, you won’t have a personally contactable designer to support you when you run into issues.
Investing in a designer, even on a small budget, is a smart move for any serious business. It will save you time and headaches in the long run. Professional designers provide the right file formats, resolutions, and creative expertise.
I’ll send you an invoice once we’ve agreed on availability. You pay via bank transfer. You’ll be booked in the diary as soon as this is paid. Most stand-alone collateral items are payable upfront, while branding packages and website creation allow for split payments (50% to book and 50% upon completion).
It can vary between 2 weeks and 3 months, depending on the complexity of the job, the item or package you choose, and how quickly you provide feedback on Revisions. (I also have a day job 3 days a week so Rascal Design operates on a part-time basis.)
Example 1. You just want a logo on its own: If your brief is straight forward and you’re prompt with feedback, it could be less than 2 weeks.
Example 2. You want Premium Branding and Website Creation and you take a few days to respond to Revisions: Expect over 2 months.
After enquiring, you’ll receive an invoice.
After payment, I’ll send you an electronic brief to complete.
I’ll then work on initial ideas based on your brief and send a First Draft for feedback.
Together, we’ll refine the design over 2 Revisions. (Meaning the third time you see the file will complete the job.)
Once final payment is made, I’ll email you all your master files. You can choose to arrange printing yourself or request quotes from me. I’m not a printing company - just design, but I work with many reliable print suppliers and most of my clients also arrange printing through me after designs are complete.
Most of my clients are start-ups, hobbyists, and small-medium businesses like home bakers, tradesmen, dog walkers, artists, hair/beauty, cafes/restaurants etc. If your project brief seems beyond my scope, I’m happy to recommend other local designers better suited to your needs.
Yes, at a small additional charge per Revision.
I use the Adobe Creative Suite, the same professional software as other designers. I may be self-taught, but I offer the same quality high-resolution raster and vector files as industry professionals.
Yes, I can enhance logos on a case-by-case basis for a small fee. If you designed it yourself, I can replicate it in optimal quality. If it was done by another designer, I recommend asking them for the edits first.
